What is an Autonomous System Number (ASN)?
An Autonomous System (AS) is a large network or collection of IP networks governed by a single routing policy and operated by one organizationโsuch as Google, Amazon, or Comcast. Each Autonomous System is assigned a unique globally identified 16-bit or 32-bit number known as an ASN.
BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) uses ASNs to route traffic across the global Internet backbone. By looking up an ASN on IPLocatorTools, you can trace which company controls an IP address and see all associated CIDR subnet prefixes.
