WebRTC Leak Test & VPN Shield Checker
Test whether WebRTC inside your browser is leaking your real public IPv4, IPv6, or private LAN address behind your VPN or proxy.
Inspecting Browser WebRTC STUN Candidates...
No unauthorized public IP addresses or private LAN network leaks were found.
The public IP address reported by web servers when making standard HTTPS requests.
IPs discovered via peer-to-peer STUN communication directly in your browser.
Internal router addresses (e.g. 192.168.x.x) or mDNS hostnames masked for privacy.
What is a WebRTC Leak and why is it dangerous?
WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) is an HTML5 technology that enables web browsers to establish direct voice, video, and P2P data connections without plugins.
To establish direct connections through NAT firewalls, WebRTC sends STUN requests to external servers. In many unpatched browsers or misconfigured VPNs, WebRTC bypasses the encrypted VPN tunnel and sends your real ISP IP address directly to any website you visit with just a few lines of JavaScript!
How to Disable WebRTC in Popular Browsers
Mozilla Firefox
Type about:config in the address bar. Search for media.peerconnection.enabled and toggle it to false.
Google Chrome & Edge
Chrome does not have a built-in switch. Install a privacy extension like WebRTC Leak Prevent or uBlock Origin and enable 'Prevent WebRTC from leaking local IP addresses'.
Brave Browser
Navigate to brave://settings/shields and set WebRTC IP Handling Policy to Disable Non-Proxied UDP.
